It doesn’t always happen to someone else,

Is your family prepared?

KidSource Background

The very reason that KidSource Child Id Program was created

was for exactly what it can do.

Imagine being at the zoo on one of the busiest days of the year, Mother's Day. In the lines and crowds imagine looking down and seeing your most precious child GONE.

This happened to my family and struck a great fear within the heart and mind of myself as well as my husband.

Now imagine what to say when staff asks you to identify your child. I must honestly say it is much harder than you think to actually identify your own child while in the middle of total confusion. I could not even remember what color my child's eyes were. All I could think about was would someone have stolen him, could he have wandered into the bear habitat, at worse been taken by a killer. Only the very worst is what I could imagine. I could hardly speak however when asked if I carried a child id kit, as I said no I remembered that I always kept a photo of my son in the pocket of my diaper bag, to show other mothers, never for an emergency.

After I showed the zoo staff his photo he was found quickly and safe. A staff member remembered my little boy alone next to the carousel just a few minutes after the missing child alert went out. Thankfully there he was curiously staring at the grand carousel as it went round and round.

Staff members see tons of kids each day and most often they really don’t  pay attention to if their alone. Most actually always assume that their parents are always near by.

Within the next few months The KidSource company was born, out of need, to protect parents and children everywhere. I would never wish that another parent ever go through the same experience but I sure would love to know their family can be protected if it did happen.

I can not stress enough how important my son's photo was in locating him quickly and I know it could help many others if they had the same safety net for their families. I did a great amount of research on child safety and identification, I looked to the experts at the Center for Missing and Exploited Children to get some training and information. Then I found a company to compile and print an extensive, exclusive, high quality Child Id kit that could be marketed directly to parents through schools and daycares. This way all the children in our community can be reached quickly and effectively and now each and every family has a way to quickly identify their children to police, store staff, teachers or anyone else efficiently.

Secondly, the other area of our business was initially centered around safety education and marketing safety materials then we realized a much broader aspect of child education. We can insure education, promote family togetherness, and foster a love of reading by making books of all types available to children of all ages. That is when the quest began to find a company that was worthy of KidSource and our customers who could provide quality books at reasonable prices. Then we found USBORNE Books which is one of the world's leading publishers of children's books, Founded in 1973, Usborne pioneered a completely new generation of entertaining, colorful and friendly fiction and non-fiction books. Since then it has grown steadily to become a major publisher of almost every type of children's book for every age from baby to teenager. Since its foundation, Usborne has been the publisher that children themselves love. They love Usborne books for their fun and surprise value. The books are produced to the highest possible standards and always aimed at strengthening kids love of reading. We are proud to be a distributor of USBORNE Books and hope that all our customers will enjoy this addition to our business as well.

Program Design

The KidSource Child Identification Kit provides comprehensive safety information that adults can keep on hand for emergencies. This is a complete kit that you can provide to law enforcement in the event that your child becomes missing.

The KidSource Id Program Kit Includes:

A DNA Collection Swab and A DNA Storage Bag.

DNA is a key element of what families should have on hand for their children’s identification. DNA has become the “gold standard” for all identification matters. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children strongly encourages parents and guardians to take a DNA sample of their children as a safety measure in case their children become missing. Because our company feels that no one else should have access to your child's DNA we do not swab children in schools or daycares. This Kit includes a professional sterile DNA collection swab, parental instructions and a DNA storage envelope so your child’s DNA can be recorded safely and accurately by you, at home!

A Recent Photograph.

Families should have current photographs of their children. The photograph should be a full-face shot in color, and capture the way children really look. Photographs should be taken at least once per year, (more often for younger children). When our company presents a safety program in schools and daycares we take a 4 x 6 size photograph that will be included in your kit at no additional charge.

A Fingerprinting Chart including all ten fingers.

Fingerprints can be taken by parents, it is strongly recommended to be recorded on a paper stock that will be usable for loading into the FBI’s National Crime Information Center, if your child should become missing. Our ID Kit includes fingerprinting service on special card stock paper to benefit every recovery effort.

Physical Characteristics Chart.

Parents and guardians should also have a written description of their children. The description should include: Hair color; Eye color; Weight; Height; Date of Birth; and any unique physical attributes such as eyeglasses, braces, or piercing. This is information you will fill out to complete your kit at home.

A Dental Chart.

Dental X-rays, dental charting, and bite impressions are all useful in making identifications. Parents and guardians should update dental charts every 1- 2 years until children are 18. The KidSource Id Kit provides space for parents to do their own dental charting. It may also be possible to have your child's dentist fill out this portion of the Id Kit for you.

Child Safety Tips.

An Effective child-safety programs are ones children will enjoy, understand, and ultimately help to change children’s behavior. The fundamental idea of prevention education is that children with self-confidence, grounded in safety competence and high self-esteem, are less vulnerable targets for victimization.

Please Note: All of our kit items come packaged in a clear re-closable bag for safe storage all in one place in the event that you need your recovery materials quickly.

Additional Information

Our Child Id Kit also includes tips on fingerprinting your child at home. It gives complete and professional instructions in the event that you are ordering kits for children that we will not reach through a school program. Such as babies and teenagers. The kits can be just as effective even when parents gather the information. Remember all children from birth to 18 years of age should have the protection of the KidSource Child Id Program on file in your home.

Below you will find images of what our kit looks like, it is foldable and packs neatly in the included clear re-closable bag.
