Often times teachers in schools and daycares care about the education of their students and many times good teachers can not do their best because of lack of funding. This affects teaching because access to the latest learning materials that often scarce. Items that often seem a luxury, such as books for leisure reading, teach children the fun and joy of reading the most. Also teachers are often are lacking in funds to purchase many other much needed items. That is where fund raising happens. Giving teachers the resources gives children the benefits.

KidSource is offering a great, rewarding option to your local schools. As a company that strongly promotes child safety we feel that it is just not acceptable to have children going door to door to sell items in this day and age. We much rather offer options such as our Reach For The Stars Read-A-Thon and School Show that promotes family togetherness and keep kids away from the doors of strangers.

We offer a great way to earn free books while offering moms, dads and kids the very best in fiction and non-fiction children's books.  Your children will be stimulated by these excellent, informative, fun and educational children’s books.

FACTS:

  • If every child were read to daily from infancy, it would revolutionize education in this country. The goal of the Reach For The Stars program is to revolutionize education.
  • Some experts believe that the biggest obstacle to literacy is the scarcity of books and reading material in the home.
  • The 1998 reading report card found that students with higher reading scores were more likely to report having reading materials available at home. The Reach for the Stars program is designed to do just that by giving children the funds to purchase books for home.

MORE ABOUT OUR REACH FOR THE STARS PROGRAM

How It Works:

  • Your Reach For The Stars Packet includes pledge forms, book wish list, reading tracking chart, instructions, and order form.
  • Children collect reading pledges from family and friends, in any amount that the giver chooses, flat rate amounts are ok to in place of per minute pledges. Children promise TO READ or BE READ TO for as many minutes a day as they choose per day. At the end of the read-a-thon parents calculate the # of days (x) minutes per day (x) pledge amount. After the 14 day read-a-thon, collect the ending amount due from all those that made pledges.

What Next:

  • Go to the book catalog (either that was checked out from the school or online)and make your book selections for your family then add up your total.
  • You can also take book orders from your family and friends to help the school raise even more in cash and free books.

The Money Raised:

  • Pledge money is divided 50/50 between the school and the kids.
  • 50% of the pledge amount that your child collects goes toward the purchase of the books that your family selected from our catalog. Fill out the included order form with your selections and use 50% of the money from the pledges you collected as part of your payment.  This is your child’s incentive for doing good and sticking with the program.
  • The additional 50% is turned into to the school as their cash and book earnings for holding a fundraiser. The school will keep 25% of  raised pledges in cash to purchase much needed items. The other 25% will go toward the purchase of  new books for your school’s. The school will also earn FREE books based on the amount of catalog purchases made.

At The End Of The Program:

  • On the due date (which is usually the Monday following the end of the program) turn in your pledges and orders directly to the school. Your books will be delivered in about 2 weeks directly to your child’s school (unless otherwise specified- we can send gift orders directly to another address for an additional fee of $6.00 any where in the USA. Please note this on your order form).
  • Simply take them home and keep on reading!

Awards:

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards will be given to top fund raisers.
  • Star Student prize for the child that reads the most.
  • Participation Awards and Reading certificate of completion will be given to every child that is involved.

100 FUN CHALLENGE
